Fís Éireann/Screen Ireland is delighted to congratulate the creative team behind The Miracle Club on the film’s Official Selection to this year’s Tribeca Film Festival. The film will receive its World Premiere as in the festival’s Spotlight Narrative strand.
Directed by Emmy nominee Thaddeus O’Sullivan (Vera, Call the Midwife), the film follows three close friends (Laura Linney, Maggie Smith and Kathy Bates) who have never left the outskirts of Dublin (much less Ireland) as they get the journey of a lifetime – a visit to Lourdes, the picturesque French town and place of miracles.
The Miracle Club is based on the screenplay Pushers Needed by Irish screenwriter Jimmy Smallhorne and co-written by Joshua D. Maurer and Timothy Prager. The film’s producers include Larry Bass of ShinAwiL, Chris Curling and Joshua Maurer of Zephyr Films. It also features Oscar nominee Stephen Rea and Agnes O’Casey in its main cast.
The Miracle Club is a co-production between Ireland and the UK, shot on location in Dublin and Wicklow last year. It is proudly supported by Screen Ireland, BCP Asset Management, Ingenious Media, Hianlo and the UK Global Screen Fund. Sony Pictures Classics has recently picked up rights for the U.S, Latin America and a number of territories in South East Asia and Eastern Europe. Sales are handled by Embankment Films.
This year’s Tribeca Film Festival will unfold from the 7th to the 18th June 2023 in New York City. This year’s program includes 109 feature films from 127 filmmakers across 36 countries.
